Keep in mind that Linux was not originally intended to run with GNU. So there is no reason why you would absolutely have to use any part of GNU in order to use the linux kernel. As far as my comment on Hurd. I know I am not running hurd. But once Debian GNU/Hurd is stable enough I might give it a try.

@purplemutantas Really? I would bet even android would have to use glibc and coreutils if its running on linux. You can't really break free from that very easily. Sometimes embedded things can get away with uclibc and busybox but theres still probably something gnu in there. Hurd is basically unused. There are a few very experimental things like Debian which use hurd, but for practical purposes it is unfinished. I doubt you use Hurd - if you did, you would know it.

Because Linus Torvolds only wrote the kernel not the whole OS. Most of the OS comes from Richard Stallman and the free software foundation. Stallman had a whole OS, he was just missing a functional kernel. Then someone decided to plug the linux kernel into GNU.

I agree. Violence towards men is virtually a non-issue it seems in todays society. I can think of more than a handful of men/boys just in my own life who have been the victims of psychological, mental, and/or physical abuse at the hands of a women, be it a mother, wife/girlfriend, sister, etc.... Violence against women should absolutely be made more of a priority worldwide, and it is indeed probably more prevalent. But that doesn't mean other forms of domestic violence should be ignored.

Many people believe this. They can become rich but becoming rich isn't the goal. There are plenty of rich people who are miserable. Many become rich and wonder, "Is this it? Is this all there is?" I really want to state here that Twilight IS NOT going to ruin all that is literature. It isn't like it's going to ruin the next generation and I really think people are exaggerating here. People are giving Edgar Allen Poe and Shakespeare a shot. Secondly, no teacher is going to tell their students to read Twilight because they don't recommend it as a tool for learning English literature. The ONLY good thing about Twlight &Harry Potter is that it gives kids a good reason to love reading.

There are various interpretations about Vampires. Vampires can be used as one sees it themselves since, really, they aren't copyrighted or anything because this all goes back to history which many used as a way to create their imagination = hence, "vampire" is born. It is a good point. Stephen King=wrote for years J.K Rowling= brought her works out expecting to have her books become something, which did. Stephenie Meyer=a noob (in better terms), she did not know what to expect I seriously think if you read The Host you would see improvement. The Host is an adult novel made by Stephenie Meyer. Scifi even if you aren't into scifi it was a good read and very creative. Nothing CLICHE about this book.
