The reason I copied Pound's poem here is because I see a deep connection between it and Ginsberg's Howl. Pound encapsulates in his 7 line poem the same basic idea of Howl: that sexual pleasure may lead to spiritual fulilness. I don't think Pound was insulting any particular poet. He was simply attacking the romanticism of the 19th century. The ancient Romans knew more than current-day Europeans.

Pound was often a great poet, but very uneven. He was also an critic of historic significance and an amazing visionary. (I see him as the father of modern poetry.) His "fascism" is a mere footnote, and most serious writers treat it as such. This video could use a bit of work. More images, you know? So you can see Ginsberg in action, maybe with some of the other beats. AKA what he really did on friday nights. The assertion that Ginsberg was antisemitic or homophobic is blatantly ignorant. It's simply not a fact. If you read more Ginsberg, you'd see his passion for humanity on the whole. At worst, he was a drug addicted man. Regardless, he is completely brilliant. Don't tie your lack of ethics into someone else's strife for them.

you should give those poems a better reading, they're level of symbolism and the intensity may disturb you, but they are an expression of what that generation felt about the world, a much more critic and courageous expression than many good literature around those years. There really is no comparison to actually hearing this read out loud instead of just reading it. Especially when you can hear the crowd laughing at parts - it really gives the whole thing a different energy than if you just open the book, thinking "ok, culture time" like some people sadly do.

@natureperson420 you are right bout that they hunt in the winter but it depends what they are hunting say if its a bear it stands its ground they will bk off but if it runs they kill it they have to have there prey running as it will be easyer for the prey to make a mistake and that would mean the wolves win but if the prey stands it ground and not run then the wolves bk away and look for something else :)

I was so excited about this film. I have did my MA thesis on the beat generation and I love Ginsberg. Franco is a great actor, but obviously did not research enough. The voice is all wrong, it sound more like Kerouac. He needs more cynicism in his tone. If an actor pans on portraying a beat poet, they must get the voice and tone down. Beat poetry is meant to be heard and voice is everything.

hmm.. have you watched or seen the video where Ginsberg is reading this poem? (related videos).. Franco sounds a lot like him! i think he did a pretty good job.. and the reviews for Franco´s performance are great I bealive he delivers a brilliant and touching performance and he is prepared for this kind of roles.. not only midly humurous sketches on SNL

I really Dig the animation, It;s true, no one will ever know word for word what Allen means in this poem. But that is a great thing about it. People can take it as they personally want to. It's one of the many beautiful things about poetry. The animation gives a great basic visual, I think.

I appreciate the animation. However, I do not believe anyone can truly exclaim what the poem is about, or what Ginsberg intended the piece to be. Even Ginsberg himself, viewed the poem differently at certain times in his life. He's said in interviews that the piece is about "the liberation from our sense of false self-deprication," about an "homage to art," that it was really "about his mother," and even stating once it was a "literal coming out." So honestly, I think it's pretty debatable.

this has to be the sadest video i seen up of a captive animal somone has had that wasnt intentional torture. im sure you bought it from a breeder and paid enough money but im sure you dont take him out as often as you should and if you do hes on a tight leash. the howling isnt a mimick it a lonsome call hes howling up to get out he sits there waiting for a reponse from another lemur and nothing hes probably going to die at a young age you should look into getting em a mate.
