Some adults with autism have service dogs that do similar things for them because their brains don't process visual information properly, and these videos help owner trainers figure out how to train these kinds of things. guys my dog suddenly went blind... and we have taken her to the vet and he had no clue on what the reason was.. hher eyes areglowing and are dark blue? please does nyone know what to do i am so upset.. :( somebody said that it was ivormectin overdose.... but my mum was giving wormer to her horse and some fell on the floor and my dog did eat it and maybe that is the cause please please help... :( thank you so muchxx

When I was at guide dog school only 3 out of 13 of us were totally blind. The rest had various degrees of vision, from seeing shadows to being able to read regular sized print. I'm from Canada but went to Guide Dogs for the Blind in Oregon. My first guide dog is retired now, and I'm training my next guide/service dog.

I loved the video! I am 50% blind in each eye and am trying to find an organization that will allow me to have a guide dog. I heard in the video that some people do need dogs to walk on the right side. That would be what I need. If you have any information about an organization or anything at all I would love to hear from you! Wonderful video, and wonderful dogs! lol!

I went to the Animation show last night in Chicago. I saw the full animation of "Guide Dog" and let me tell you it was Funny and Well made. One of the best of the show IMO. Bill Plympton (Director of "Guide Dog") was in attendance. Don Hertzfeldt was scheduled to be there but couldn't make it due to Bronchitis. Can't wait till Vol.3 is released on DVD. If you haven't already, Check out Vol. 1-2 and also see if the Animation show is coming to your neck of the woods. Definitely worth it.

I saw this just last night at the Animation Show Film Festival in Chicago. The Full length animation was amazing! Bill Plympton (Director of this Animation) was in attendance. Don Hertzfeldt was supposed to be in attendance but couldn't make it due to Bronchitis. I suggest picking up Vol. 3 of the Animation show when it's released and if you haven't already, Check out Vol.1-2. Check out the Animation show if it's coming to your area.

@motosportjunkie, Guide Dogs uses Labrador and Golden Retrievers for this work because this breed of dogs is particularly adaptable and will work for pretty much anyone who provides the correct motivation. This is one reason our organization stopped using German Shepherds because they typically don't make that transition well. I hope that helps!

Wonderful video-i am a identical twin and we both have guide dogs from Guiding Eyes for the Blind. They are worth so much to us and we love them so much. My dog Umbro and my twin's dog Mica attend college with us and love to sit and listen to us compose music. Umbro also helps out with my seizures in letting me know something is wrong before i know and staying close to me, almost laying on me until i am back to normal. He probably wants to say "Mommy i will be here always".

Oz looks just like the pup I am raising now! Bear is a a Southeastern Guide Dog puppy, almost 7 months old. If everyone could see these pups with their "people", they'd understand why we do it, & how we can let them go-they have a higher purpose. I was so excited to send my 1st pup back, because he was so ready to move on to bigger & better things, to fulfil his destiny.
