have you seen windows 7? with the new taskbar design and all new programs using revolutionary handwriting recognition, it makes windows easier than ever to use on any computer. tablet or otherwise. the ipad is a giant iphone. its practically useless. you might as well get the smaller more portable and cheaper option which has a camera and calling/texting capabilities. and windows has an on screen keyboard and tablet input panel for handwriting, plus some tablet PCs can dock with real keyboards.

You gotta remember, this was before there WAS wireless. You transferred data by "beaming" via infrared ports, which all Mac laptops had at that time. It was sort of a wireless workaround. Newton was really ahead of its time. It will be interesting to see if Apple's new tablet has handwriting recognition along with keyboard input.

Wow. 1997. Look how far we've come. This thing really was ahead of its time. The only thing keeping it grounded in the 90s is the humongous size and monocrom screen. Otherwise I would have thought this was a 2006 or later device. Man. The Apple tablet had better step up to compare with the Newton. There are three things that bother me: 1. Only one app being open at once. 2. No flash. 3. No USB. No camera doesn't bother me, especially when there are handicaps like no flash or no multitasking. Even if there were a feature that was like Spaces, so you could have open 9 apps at once, that would be very cool, just for quick switching. But instead, we've got to click the middle button, et cetera. No flash is just self explanatory. And they easily could have fit a USB in that space.

This device is nice but it's only going to be useful if you do a lot of work on the go as in if you travel a lot or for business. If you buy it with the accessories displayed on the Apple site, this is one godly device. You don't replace laptops with this, you don't play hardcore games on this either. For the price it's an excellent device. Just don't expect to do a lot of stuff on this as you would on a laptop.

of course if i was some multi-millionaire with money to just throw away to Steve Jobs I'd pick one up. But the product itself is not worth its value IMO... money aside, there is no way id take this tablet when i leave the house while leaving my laptop at home. and no way id bring both device with me at the same time.. this device has no use to me... its only for people who want an iPod touch experience but on a 9.7 inch screen rather then a 3.5 inch
